A minivan driving mom went up the wrong way on a suburban New York City parkway for nearly two miles, before crashing. The tragic car accident took eight lives, including the driver, Diane Schuller.
The accident happened in Briarcliff Manor. Schuller was driving her brother’s minivan, with her two year old daughter, her son, and her three young nieces. According to reports, about two hours before going up the wrong way, Schuller called her brother telling him she wasn’t feeling well. He told her to pull over and so that he could come get her. What happened after that is unclear. Shortly before the crash, six people called the police to say a driver was going the wrong way.
The accident claimed the life of Schuller, 36, as well as her daughter, Erin, and three young nieces. Three men in the car she hit also died. Schuller’s son, Brian, 5, is in stable but critical condition.
Police hope to learn more about this heartbreaking accident from the autopsy and toxicology reports. Currently, they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
