Michelle Obama will appear on Sesame Street for its 40th anniversary. For her Sesame Street segment Mrs. Obama will teach children about planting a garden and eating healthy.
The First Lady is heading back to the popular children’s television show, Sesame Street, to talk about planting a vegetable garden and healthy eating. She will plant veggies such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce. It seems fitting, being she is the first to plant a garden at the white house in over 60 years!
This will kick off Sesame’s two-year plan for a segment called “My World Is Green & Growing.” The segment will begin in November and Mrs. Obama will appear on the 40th anniversary episode on November 10th, where she shares her ideas for a healthy lifestyle and eating. She tells the furry characters,
“All these seeds need to grow are sun, soil and water. If you eat these healthy foods, you’re going to grow up to be big and strong, like me. I know you’re going to like these vegetables, because in addition to being healthy, they really taste great!”
A few other celebrities have also signed up to appear on the TV show, including Kobe Bryant, Hugh Jackman, Adam Sandler, and Matthew Fox.
I think this is a great idea. My grandmother always had a huge garden and we would eat something from it for dinner every night. She never had to buy produce. I know people are gong back to gardening, and I think it is great to get kids involved in growing their own food and promoting healthy living.
This is the First Lady’s second appearance on Sesame Street, so I am sure it will be great! You can check out her previous show below. We will update with the new video when it airs.
